Based in Hackney, East London, we are architects & interior designers that look to be inventive and help improve peoples lives through our projects. We rescue space to make places. We imagine new buildings where there are voids. We recycle bits of left-over architecture. We feel that design should be fun, ambitious and above all else empathetic. We respect the ideas of others and we like to listen.

For us, Architecture is a unifying discipline - politics, regulation, location, design, finance, construction and user experience - that should maintain social and artistic concerns. It should be critical, balanced and multi-faceted with The Architect’s role being one of ‘opportunity provider’. We see design as part confrontation|part co-operation in the pursuit of strong solutions, simple construction & sensible costs.

Parallel to our day to day architect-ing, fourth_space is creator of The Negroni Talks…!” an informal, freewheeling and provocative debate series with a cafe-culture vibe. We also run both Ombra & Forno, a venetian bar/restaurant & bakery a few doors down from our attic-like studio space, which function both as our less formal ‘2nd meeting room’ and a place where we host events as a public facing extension of the practice.
